MOREHEAD CITY -- Booth Parker’s spring line is now in stores. She's the founder of the Haley and the Hound Clothing Company.

"While my style is very classic, I do keep on trend with colors," said Parker.

Haley and the Hound is mainly resort wear influenced by Booth’s location living near the Atlantic in eastern North Carolina.

"I love the feel of the coast and, and it definitely inspires what I want to wear and, and the colors and the themes," said Parker.

Haley and the Hound is carried by 75 stores in nine states and the Bahamas. Around 30,000 garments have been produced for the spring line.

"When I did the spreadsheet for the orders, I about passed out," said Parker.

One of those stores is Island Proper in nearby Beaufort.

"It's bright, it's coastal [and] it's unique," said Carly Carter of Island Proper.

Haley and the Hound is relatively new. The name came from a time when Booth was working at home and her now deceased yellow lab, Haley, and a dog named Bella were in the room.

"They were under my feet and wouldn't go away and I said, 'What do y'all think this is? Haley and the hound?' And it just stuck," said Parker.

Things have really taken off just over the past year.

"I just do one thing and if it goes well, I keep following that direction and expanding from there," said Parker.

Booth employs several factories located in the Carolinas to make her clothing.

"The North Carolina textile industry is one of the things that originally made North Carolina," said Parker.

Having her line tied directly to that North Carolina textile industry was important to Booth, and customers have responded as well.

"Some people see the value in paying a little bit more to support American jobs," said Parker.

The hope is customers realize what their purchases mean.

"I hope they're getting satisfaction in knowing the jobs they're supporting here in North Carolina," said Parker.

The people in a space in Greensboro work full-time turning out Haley and the Hound fashions.

"Really refreshing to get the phone call that the line's at max capacity, and we need to add people to it,” said Parker.

For stores such as Island Proper, it’s valuable having a brand that’s designed and manufactured in North Carolina.

"We're thrilled to have Haley and the Hound in the store. We have a lot of requests for locally-made products," said Carter.

Booth still does CPA work for her family a couple of days a week, and she hopes to continue to do so. Haley and the Hound continues to take up more and more of her time. The spring line is now in stores, but there’s little time to relax.

"We're already slated for the last week of March to start fall production," said Parker.
