It's an unprecedented time in the automotive industry.

John Pentler, General Manager of Uptown Motors, said the industry is still working around a shortage of chips from overseas - mostly Taiwan. He said Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine could impact the supply of parts to the world's largest auto makers.

Pentler said the continued uncertainty in the industry is why so many dealers are currently very short on new vehicles.

Pentler said for consumers looking to get the best value on a new car purchase, the safest strategy is to order your vehicle and be willing to wait for it to be built.

He added the used car market is paying record-high prices for trade-in vehicles.

Pentler said because of that, it's a great time to trade your car in.
