BUFFALO, N.Y. — High school students in the Buffalo Public School District are set to return to the classroom Monday.
BPS officials are preparing to kick-off Phase 3 of its reopening plan, bringing the remaining high schoolers who opt-in back to in-person classes.
The returning students will be on a hybrid schedule with two days of in person learning and three days of remote learning.
Superintendent Kriner Cash has previously said he feels it's safe to move forward with reopening despite high infection rates in the area.
Administrators say they conduct COVID-19 testing for 40% of in-school students, higher than the percentage required by New York state.
They also plan to keep students six feet apart instead of the three foot social distancing rule deemed safe by the CDC.
Phase four of the reopening plan begins May 10 when the remaining elementary opt-in students can return to school.
