Parents, students, and staff from Holy Cross School came out to support their former principal.
The school announced Mary Martell would not be coming back as principal this year, and that they are looking for new leadership. Families are asking that she be reinstated.
"We need her, the school needs her, the teachers need her, the community needs her," said Glenda Hunter of Rochester. "She has done so much for this school and the community. I don't know how we will move forward without her."
The Rochester Catholic Diocese acknowledged Martell's longtime contributions, but also said the search for a new principal continues.
