CLARKTON, N.C. — Three men were found dead in Bladen County on Monday, and one man was arrested after police went to a call about a shooting.
The three men — 62-year-old Daniel Dennis, 54-year-old Randy Benton and 32-year-old Phillip Palmer — were found dead inside a home in Clarkton, North Carolina, officials said. The three men suffered multiple stab wounds.
According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at about 7:30 p.m., regarding a shooting at a residence on E. Roberts Street. Once there, police encountered 35-year-old Kevin Musser standing at the front door, his clothing covered in blood, and holding a handgun.
Officials said Musser ran from the home once they arrived. He went through the back door, where deputies found him on the back steps with life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to the hospital in Chapel Hill for treatment, the sheriff's office said.
Musser has been identified as a person of interest and is currently being interviewed by investigators.
"This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public," Bladen County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. "Charges are expected but an investigation is still ongoing and additional information is still being uncovered."
Residents of the Clarkton community are waiting for answers as authorities work to determine what led to the deadly attack.
