A Liverpool man who was arrested over the weekend for trying to flee the scene of a drunken crash is an Onondaga County jail deputy.
Officials say they responded to the crash on Interstate 81 in the Town of Onondaga around 1 a.m. Saturday. They say 43-year-old Wewoka Shenandoah hit a car that was pulled over on the side of the highway after it ran out of gas.
Shenandoah was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and charged with aggravated DWI. State troopers say he had a blood alcohol content of 0.21 percent. The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized with minor injuries.
TWC News has not yet heard if Shenandoah has been placed on any sort of leave following his arrest.
