OCALA, Fla. — A+ Teacher Lynn Tomich is on a mission to make a difference every day in the classroom by thinking outside the box when it comes to utilizing unique learning techniques.

What You Need To Know

Tomich says it's not a one size fits all approach in her St. John Lutheran School classroom.

"If you're just willing to think outside the box, sometimes it really can make a difference in someone's life," she says.

The first grade teacher loves being able to see the moment when a student really gets what she’s teaching.

It’s one of the reasons why she creates fun games, so they think and learn.

She says, "It’s just another fun way to do spelling instead of constantly writing it."

Tomich puts a lot into planning each lesson at the private Christian school in Ocala.

"The amount of time and work that goes into trying to make sure each child gets what they need so they can be successful," she comments.

She says students learn differently so it's important to be flexible.

Tomich adds, "Everybody has potential. There's just different ways of getting to it and it's not a one size fits all."

Tomich was a youngster when she noticed something special about working with children.

“As a kid I was babysitting and teaching that to children I babysat, and I was like this would be a great thing to do just all the time," she shares, adding, "They're not afraid to try anything. They're just willing to be silly and goofy. We like doing that in this class."
