The parent company of TWC News was honored Thursday for its contributions to education and higher learning.
Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds initiative was recognized during a luncheon hosted by Learning Leaders and NY1's own Adam Balkin.
The 5-year-old initiative recently hit a milestone by connecting 1 million young people to the fields of science, math, engineering and technology.
"Connect a Million Minds is really an amazing program, and we're thrilled to receive this award from Learning Leaders, most especially because Learning Leaders shares our mission of really engaging the community and family members in the schools and in their children's education," said Ellen East, executive vice president with Time Warner Cable.
New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña was also on hand to speak about her decades as an educator and the current challenges city schools face.
