MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — Two people were shot Tuesday morning when Middletown police were executing a narcotic search warrant, officials said.
The officers responded to a residence at 7:20 a.m. in the 900 block of Garden Avenue. Officials said the warrant was from an investigation into a narcotics trafficker.
According to Middletown police, officers announced their presence and identified themselves when they arrived. One person opened the door of the house while displaying a firearm. This led one officer to discharge their weapon.
One person was pronounced dead on the scene while another had a gunshot wound. The injured person was transported to a medical facility to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations is investigating the incident.
