CLEVELAND — For the last few years, the Cleveland Guardians have been working on what they have called “Progressive Field Reimagined”.

What You Need To Know

  • The Guardians have added spaces in the ballpark to add to the fan experience

  • New food this season includes turkey legs, mozzarella stick sandwiches, fried pickles and more

  • Fans will be able to experience the new additions at the home opener

This year's renovations include revamping of the Guardians front office as well as new ballpark spaces.

Christy Corfias with the Guardians explained their thought process.

“What we really tried to do is think about all the different ways that people want to experience baseball and provide different options for that,” she said.

The new options include the “Terrace Hall” which is an indoor/outdoor beer hall open to all fans. There’s also a new KeyBank North Coast Social, which includes an indoor lounge and open-air seating. Corfias said that they listened to what fans wanted to see at the ballpark.

“We were hearing that people wanted a space to eat and drink away from their seats. They wanted spaces to enjoy with their family and friends. They wanted interior and exterior spaces in a different way, and we wanted to provide variety for our fans,” she said.

Fans are always excited about the new food at the ballpark. Vishwatej Nath, the executive chef at Progressive Field, said it’s been three years of planning new food. There’s going to be turkey legs, mozzarella sandwiches, fried pickles, bologna sandwiches, burgers, flatbreads and more. They have partnered with local restaurants like Gunselman’s Tavern, Black Box Fix, Market Garden and others on some of the new menu items.

“I think its a beautiful partnership that we have with many local vendors, and we’ll continue to do that,” Nath said.

Nath said you can’t leave the ballpark without trying the mozzarella sandwich, the turkey leg and the fried bologna sandwich.

The updates and additions are meant to enhance the fan experience at the ballpark.

“I hope they’re excited about the Guardians experience, and I hope they leave Progressive Field feeling like they were really welcome here and they had a wonderful time,” Corfias said.

The fans will see the changes first hand at the home opener on Tuesday.
