DAYTON, Ohio — Seven teams have been crowned state champs after claiming victory in the OHSAA girls basketball championships Friday and Saturday.
Whether it was their first-ever state title or another added to their collection, plenty of student athletes had a lot to celebrate this weekend as the OHSAA recently expanded the sport to seven divisions.
Here are the highlights across all the divisions that played this weekend.
Division III — Purcell Marian vs. Avon Lake
The weekend started out with another victory from Cincinnati Purcell Marian, becoming the fourth team to win four consecutive state championships beating Avon Lake 72-44.
Ms. Basketball winner Dee Alexander, a Cincinnati signee who earned the honor for a third time in her career on Wednesday, joining LeBron James and Kierstan Bell as the only players to do so, led all scorers with 27 points.

Bellevue, on the other hand, claimed its first ever state championship in a victory over Kettering Archbishop Alter 40-29.
Despite holding the Knights to 1-of-21 shooting in the first half, which saw Kettering Archbishop Alter begin the game 0-of-19 from the field until Maddie Moody made a jumper to bring the Knights within seven with 1:31 left, Bellevue had just a 13-6 halftime lead behind seven points from Audrey Turner.

The most recent team to do it was New Madison Tri-Village in 2023 and the previous Division II program to do it was Kettering Archbishop Alter in 2015.
