The airport was flagged by the National Airspace System as highly probable to experience a ground stop.

Delays at the airport are trending higher and longer for the day as well, according to CLT airport data. Airport crews are ready to prevent and remove any snow or ice, the airport said.

Other airports across the state, such as Raleigh-Durham International, Asheville Regional and Wilmington Airport, are also seeing some delays and cancellations, with some websites warning passengers of the travel delays.

But the Charlotte airport isn’t alone in its logistical struggle as travelers head into the weekend because of the winter weather. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport issued a full ground stop just after 8 a.m. Friday due to the storm. Planned cancellations from the storm continue to grow across the East Coast, from Washington, D.C. to Boston.
