Finding her balance: High School Scholar knows how to push herself
High School Scholar Alyssa Gagnon knows how important it is to challenge yourself and push yourself beyond your perceived limitations.
The Spectrum News High School Scholars Program recognizes exceptional high school seniors with scholarship awards of $1,000 for use toward college expenses.
Nominees must be high school seniors at public or private high schools in North Carolina. They must be involved in varsity athletics or have an excellent academic record, and be involved in extracurricular activities, such as band, newspaper, or yearbook, and be active in their local community, either through their school or volunteering on their own time.

She was presented with a $1,000 scholarship award that was given to her by State Sen. Brad Overcash.
Srinath Iyer participates in several clubs, including the school's robotics team, tutors younger students and is a South Indian vocalist.
