Nick Buffo joined Spectrum News 1 in Charlotte as a reporter in June 2021. He was promoted to anchor in 2022 and keeps Charlotte viewers updated on the traffic situation in the Queen City.

Originally from the Midwest, Buffo graduated from DePaul University with a degree in broadcast journalism before working in Madison, WI.

While reporting in the Midwest, he had his most impactful assignment when he was given the opportunity to report on a fulfilled dream. When a terminally ill Illinois child’s dream was to go skiing, his family and Boy Scout troop made his wish come true. Buffo was honored to be able to cover the event and was humbled by the effort to arrange the boy’s special trip down the slope.

Buffo is inspired by people’s willingness to share personal stories, and also hopes his readers can benefit from critical information that is easy to digest and helpful to the community. Such impactful stories have brought positive attention to his career and in 2017 he contributed to an Emmy-winning Best Evening Newscast for covering an industrial plant explosion outside Madison, WI.

Buffo enjoys exploring North Carolina's beaches and mountains, although being from the Midwest he may like the beaches a little more. When not reporting, Nick may be found looking for his new favorite brewery, restaurant, or catching a Panthers game.
