ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The new MLS soccer stadium rising in the Downtown West neighborhood now officially has seats in it.
St. Louis CITY SC on Friday shared pictures and video on social media showing the first of what will be 22,500 seats installed at Centene Stadium.
It’s unclear when the seats were actually put in place in the lower bowl, but the team says the upper bowl installation will start in early May, followed by premium seating later in the month.
What’s left before construction is completed later this summer? The list includes installing the sod and finishing the stadium’s metal canopy.
St. Louis CITY SC begins MLS play in 2023 after having the club’s arrival delayed a year by the pandemic. The team has already named Bradley Carnell as its inaugural head coach, and has signed four players to contracts starting in July. A St. Louis CITY SC entry in the MLS Next Pro circuit is playing its games at Saint Louis University’s Hermann Stadium.
