ST. LOUIS—St. Louis County authorities have charged a 33 year-old man in connection with an accidental shooting that killed his 11 year-old son.
Marshaun Futrell faces three counts of child endangerment, one for the death of a child and two for creating a substantial risk.
Police were called to the 1800 block of Longford Drive around 8:15 p.m. for a shooting. Officers say they arrived to find a Marshaun Futrell, Jr., suffering from an apparent gunshot injury. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
According to court documents, the 11-year-old had two weapons in a backpack and and was playing with them with another person. One of the guns fired, hitting him.
When police executed a search warrant they found 12 firearms belonging to Futrell, with "many" of them loaded, unsecured and accessible to children, according to a probable cause statement.
A two year-old child also lives at the home.
Futrell is being held on $100,000 cash only bond.
