ST. LOUIS—Spin up tornadoes and severe weather scarred the St. Louis region this Spring. Storm victims often are left wondering questions like “where do I go from here?” or “what do I do next?”
From governmental agencies to private organizations, help is out there if you know where to look. Below is a list of various entities focused on helping when people face uncertainty after a disaster.
American Red Cross: Residents may apply for financial assistance after a natural disaster such as tornadoes or floods.
Salvation Army: Those who experienced disaster and need immediate or long-term relief may contact the Salvation Army who can mobilize food, water and emergency shelter within hours, according to their website.
United Way 211: With a database of thousands of non-profits in the region, 211 helps connect storm victims to resources.
State Emergency Management Agency: Missouri Department of Public Safety provides information SEMA’s Public Assistance Program and various other categories including small businesses, agricultural operations and more.
FEMA: Federal aid is available through application.
Disaster Assistance: This governmental agency helps disaster victims apply for FEMA relief and other resources.
Smart home America: This organization has provided QR codes to various agencies including HUD and the USDA for those seeking to rebuild or repair following a disaster.
Missouri REALTORS Relief Foundation is making $500,000 available, up to $1,000 per household, to help pay for mortgage, offset hotel expenses or temporary rental costs for families displaced.
