ST. LOUIS—The St. Louis Blues control their playoff fate with one last regular season game against the Utah Hockey Club on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, with a puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
If the Blues win without the game going to overtime, they secure a wildcard spot. Other outcomes do not eliminate the Blues immediately but open the door for the Calgary Flames to leapfrog them on Thursday if the two teams are tied in points.
“It’s the puck pressure, being more relentless,” said Jim Montgomery, head coach of the St. Louis Blues. “Like our first and third goals of last game. That’s Blues hockey and we got to get to that more consistently for 60 minutes.”
After winning a franchise record 12 games in a row, the Blues have dropped three.
“You’re not going to be able to play great when you’re playing 18 games in the month of March. It’s just not happening.”
Montgomery is confident in his team to close out the season with a win because of the ‘been there before’ players.
“We’ve got five Stanley Cup winners that are still playing for us—we’ve got a (defensive) core that’s played so many games and so many playoff games. There’s a lot of experience in winning throughout our line up and I expect those guys to do this.”
