ST. LOUIS—This year’s National Council for History Education is being held in St. Louis from Thursday through Saturday at the Hyatt Regency. The nonprofit professional organization advocates the importance of teaching history, learning through professional learning and community building. Their mission, as outlined on their website, is “to support history educators as they teach students accurate, inclusive and complex histories.”

Those interested in attending may register to attend and become a member of the NCHE through their website.

Exhibitors come from all over the country, including teachers, department chairs, museum educators, librarians and more. Click here for the full program of this year’s conference in St. Louis.

The nonprofit’s website also has webinars and a handpicked collection of resources to help “enrich your teaching practice and engage your students effectively.”

A member of NCHE spoke to Spectrum News on the mayoral primary day and stated Winston Churchill summed up the importance of history best.

“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it,” said Winston Churchill during a 1948 speech to the House of Commons.
