JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo.—A major interstate and interchange in Jefferson County will see some changes beginning Friday, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be shifting southbound I-55 traffic to the newly constructed median pavement from north of Central Avenue to south of the I-55/US 67 interchange. By 10 a.m. on Monday, March 3, all the southbound I-55 traffic will be fully switched onto the median.

MoDOT is demolishing existing southbound I-55 pavement and I-55 bridges over Central Ave, Third Street, and US 67 if weather permits.

The southbound US 67 loop ramp to southbound I-55 will be closed for six months beginning Friday until the replacement of the southbound I-55 bridge over US 67 is complete.

The work is part of MoDOT’s ongoing Interstate 55 Corridor Upgrades project.
