ST LOUIS–A St. Louis City garbage truck and a white sedan collided head-on after the sedan crossed the center line on West Florissant near Arlington Thursday morning.
The sedan's male driver died and another person was taken to a hospital according to a St Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD).
Police on scene stated the garbage truck driver, a veteran of the refuse department, was not at fault for the accident. A camera at Union and Florissant is part of the Real Time Crime Center network providing police a view of the incident.
The garbage truck landed on its side dozens of feet away from the sedan as the truck driver overcorrected in their attempt to avoid the crash. SLMPD and Saint Louis Fire Department responded to the scene and shut down traffic in both directions.
