MARYVILLE, Ill.—Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill., says it is dealing with a surge in flu patients and has implemented a visitor restriction policy.
The hospital posted on social media Tuesday that it is asking visitors not to visit the hospital if they are displaying any flu-like symptoms. They also are advising healthy visitors to wash their hands often while visiting.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the state’s respiratory illness level is moderate. When it comes to hospital admissions, 18% of admissions in the state were due to Acute Respiratory Illness between Jan. 12-18, 2025. The data shows 3.8% are due to flu. These numbers are also down from the previous week.
The state’s dashboard shows the Metro East has dealth with four flu outbreaks since the beginning of the year. The outbreaks are in congregate facilities. The dashboard does not indicate where in the Metro East those outbreaks happened.
