WARRENTON, Mo.–Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) is holding public hearings in February regarding the Improve I-70: Warrenton to Wentzville project.
The $600 million contract is paid for between the Improve I-70 funding, General Revenue funding, and previously allocated funds for other I-70 and I-64 projects.
Attendees will learn the basic design plans, construction phasing, schedule, along with other information about the project. These open-house style hearings give citizens, businesses, and frequent travelers a chance to vocalize their thoughts on the planned improvements. MODOT will not be making a formal presentation. Instead, MODOT engineers, the Improve 70 Alliance contractor team of Emery Sapp and Sons, Clarkson Construction, HNTB, and Bartlett and West will be available to answer questions.
People may submit written and orally recorded statements at the hearing. MODOT says all comments must be received by Thursday, March 6. Those that want to enter the meeting with some prior knowledge are encouraged to check out this link.
During construction, the team says they’ll keep two lanes of travel open on I-70 in both directions during peak travel times.
MODOT expects to begin construction this Spring (2025) and be completed by late 2028.
Visitors to the meetings will be able to see displays regarding bridge and interchange improvements planned at Exit 188, Routes A and B, and Exit 183, Routes E and Y at Jonesburg. MODOT’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan funded these improvements. That improvement project is expected to be awarded to contractor(s) in March, with construction commencing in 2025 or 2026.
MODOT intends to add a third lane on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville in the future. That project is funded through $2.8 billion in General Revenue signed into law by Governor Parson during the General Assembly FY2024 budget.
Anyone with disabilities and need special services or other possible accommodations at the public hearing are asked to contact Project Communications Coordinator Lairyn McGregor by Monday, Jan. 27. His number is 816-607-2152.
