ST. LOUIS — As Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews continue to plow and treat roads, the department says it will take a couple of days for them to be cleared.
The wintry weather conditions have varied throughout the St. Louis region with snow in some areas, and ice and sleet in other parts.
The intensity of precipitation mix and the constant snowfall have been challenges for clearing the roads, said Bob Becker, district maintenance engineer for MoDOT St. Louis.
“As you’re going down the road, it’s covering up right behind you,” Becker said, noting the snow also makes it difficult to see.
And the cold temperatures will cause the chemicals to work slower.
Becker advises people to stay off the roads. If they do need to travel, he urged drivers to give plow trucks plenty of room.
