NOLA Hospitals saw their supplies dwindle quickly from the mass casualty event in the French Quarter during New Year’s Celebrations.

Impact Life says additional donations of red blood cells and platelets are needed for both local hospitals and the supportive efforts. More information on local donation centers and mobile blood drives can be found at  www.bloodcenter.org or call (800)-747-5401, or schedule via the ImpactLife mobile app, available at www.bloodcenter.org/app.

ImpactLife is part of a national partnership of blood centers that joined forces to meet immediate transfusion needs when faced with a large-scale emergency known as the Blood emergency Response Corps. Through this agreement, blood centers are on-call to help prepare for mass transfusion disasters, ensuring the ability to meet demand without delay or uncertainty for emergencies.

Local needs will come before ImpactLife ships blood components outside the center’s direct service region.

“We are asking all potential blood donors and our blood drive partners to help us answer the call,” said Amanda Hess, Vice President, Donor Relations and Marketing. “We will need to increase our donations this week and next to continue meeting local needs while also supporting New Orleans.”

Through the end of January, donors may receive their choice of an electronic gift card, a donation to a local food bank, or points to redeem in the Rewards Store. More information can be found on the bloodcenter.org’s promotion page

Additionally, through Jan. 12, donors with successful donations will receive other rewards:
