ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — The St. Charles County Council recently approved a $5.1 million bid to hire an excavating company for work on a Dardenne Creek project set to begin in the spring.

Kuesel Excavating Co. was the lowest bidder for the Dardenne Creek Blueway Trail and Stream Stabilization project, according to county documents.

Plans include adding four access points along Dardenne Creek for launching a kayak or canoe.

The project will provide access ramps and grade control structures to allow for public use of the Blueway.

Other work will entail excavating, cleaning and deepening the creek channel to allow for a more enjoyable experience when using the Blueway Trail system.

The project is expected to not increase the regulatory water surface elevation.
