ST. LOUIS — The largest menorah west of the Mississippi will be lit every night of Hanukkah at Kiener Plaza, beginning Wednesday, Dec. 25.
The 29’ Staenberg Menorah at Kiener Plaza Park is part of “Chanukah @ The Arch” celebrations put on by Chabad of Greater St. Louis and sponsored by Peoples National Bank, according to a press release.
The free event is open to the public and will feature Hanukkah light-up giveaways, music, dreidel man and chocolate gelt for children.
“We’re going even bigger this year with menorah lightings every night of Hanukkah,” said Rabbi Yosef Landa, regional director of Chabad of Greater St. Louis and event organizer.
“The idea is to allow as many people as possible to participate in what has become this great St. Louis tradition.”
“Chanukah @ The Arch” began in 1973 as part of a Hanukkah awareness campaign.
The menorah at the Gateway Arch is one of more than 15,000 public menorahs around the world, including the White House and the Eiffel Tower, according to the press release.
Event organizers ask attendees to get free tickets in advance. For more details, visit the event’s website.
