ST. LOUIS – Metro Transit rolled out its new service changes aiming to improve customer experience this week.

They’re expanding coverage to serve new areas on 25 MetroBus routes and increasing service frequency of several other routes.

Metro believes their introduction of new streamlined routes will lead to fewer transfers.

On-time performance and transit connections should improve by Metro’s scheduling and routing adjustments. Metro said their recent recruitment efforts resulting in strengthening their workforce of their MetroBus team made these changes possible. The MetroLink service experienced zero changes on Monday, Dec. 2. Here's a look at the changes in both Missouri and Illinois.

MISSOURI

#21 Watson, New Map, New Schedule: Fenton will now be served by this route, including the Amazon warehouse and Wally’s at Assembly Parkway.

#31 Chouteau, New Map, New Schedule: MetroBus will now serve the Brentwood I-64 Transit Center and provide additional service to Brentwood Pointe. While the MetroBus will not enter Maplewood-Manchester Transit Center, it’ll have stops on Manchester Road adjacent to the transit center.

#35 Rock Road, New Map, New Schedule: MetroBus is extending this route to service St. Charles Rock Road west of I-270. This route gives all-day service to Boulder Industrial Area on select trips that were previously served by MetroBus route #100 Hazelwood, and all trips serving St. Charles Rock Road at Pennridge.

#40 Broadway-Halls Ferry, New Map, New Schedule: The former #40 N. Broadway and #174X Halls Ferry Express combine to form this route which provides customers with a convenient and continuous route between the North County Transit Center, Riverview Transit Center and downtown St. Louis.

#41 Lee, New Map, New Schedule: This MetroBus route serves Halls Ferry and McLaran near Riverview which was previously served by #174X Halls Ferry Express. It will service senior living and the public library.

#42 Sarah, New Map, New Schedule: This route was adjusted to now operate on Ashland, Bishop P. L. Scott and Labadie.

#47 Hanley was replaced, Metro asks you look at #79 Ferguson-Clayton.

#49 Lindbergh, New Map, New Schedule: MetroBus will service Mercy Hospital South via Tesson Ferry Road through this expansion to the route.

#57 Manchester, New Map, New Schedule: The service frequency during some weekday and weekend hours improved to 40 minutes from 60 minutes. However, this MetroBus route no longer connects with the #31 Chouteau.

#60 Shepley-Lilac, New Map, New Schedule: MetroBus extended this route to serve Christian Hospital Northeast, Hazelwood East High and National Records Center, as well as select trips to Missouri Veterans Home.

#61 Chambers, New Map, New Schedule: This route no longer serves Schnucks Distribution Center. For those wishing to visit the Schnucks Distribution Center the new #76 N. Hanley Shuttle route will transport you.

#64 Lucas Hunt, New Schedule: The weekday service frequency improved to a 40-minute frequency, previously a 60 minute frequency.

#73 Carondelet, New Schedule: An early-morning weekday trip was added to connect with #4 Natural Bridge to this route.

#74 Florissant, New Schedule: MetroBus made minor schedule adjustments to improve on-time performance and connections with other buses or MetroLink.

#76 McDonnell-Waterford was replaced, Metro asks you look at #76 N. Hanley Shuttle, #77 Village Square, #78 Bellefontaine, and #100 Hazelwood.

#76 North Hanley Shuttle, New Map, New Schedule: This is a new route to serve areas previously covered by the #76 McDonnell-Waterford, #78 Bellefontaine and #100 Hazelwood routes. The new route operates between Old Town Florissant and the North Hanley Transit Center, providing service to employment sites including Schnucks Distribution Center, Pepsico Distribution Center, Northwest Medical Center, St. Francois Social Security Office, offering select weekday trips to Hazelwood Logistics Center too.

#77 Village Square, New Map, New Schedule: MetroBus extended #77 to serve areas previously served by the #76 McDonnell-Waterford. This route serves Lighthouse for the Blind, Pershall Road, but those interested in Dunn Road or PepsiCo need to use #76 N. Hanley Shuttle route.

#78 Bellefontaine, New Map, New Schedule: The #78 route was extended west to serve Parker Road, Waterford Road, McCluer North High, James Eagan Center, Grandview Plaza and other locations that were served by #76 McDonnell-Waterford. #77 Village Square will provide service on New Halls Ferry Road.

#79 Ferguson-Clayton, New Map, New Schedule: A new route replaced both the #47 Hanley and #79 Ferguson routes giving customers one continuous MetroBus route between the North County Transit Center, City of Ferguson, North Hanley Transit Center, and Clayton Transit Center.

#100 Hazelwood, New Map, New Schedule: This route is no longer a loop route but instead a two-way, eastbound-westbound route that serves Boeing, Valley Industries, Amazon, Hazelwood Trade Port, areas of Hanley Road and areas of McDonnell Blvd that were previously served by the #76 McDonnell-Waterford. #35 Rock Road serves Boulder Industrial and St. Charles Rock Road now.

#174X Halls Ferry Express was replaced by #40 Broadway-Halls Ferry

ILLINOIS

#6 Rosemont, New Schedule: In effort to connect with MetroLink at the Fairview Heights Center an early-morning weekday trip was added.

#12 O’Fallon-Fairview Heights, New Map, New Schedule: MetroBusThis streamlined the route to improve trip times with faster service. #12 gives service between Fairview Heights Transit Center, Regency Park and St. Elizabeth Hospital on every trip. It also continues to Highway 50, Highway 158, and Shiloh-Scott Transit Center every other trip. #12 does not serve Cambridge, 1st Street and Smiley.

#14 Memorial Hospital, New Map, New Schedule: MetroBus modified the route to a loop route on its western end via Highway 15.

#15 Belleville-Shiloh, New Map, New Schedule: A route extension to #15 was done to serve Green Mount Crossing, operating between Belleville Transit Center, Memorial Hospital, Shiloh Veterans Clinic, Frank Scott Parkway, Green Mount Crossing and Central Parkway. The #12 O’Fallon-Fairview Heights provides service to 2nd Street and Lincoln.

#16 St. Clair Square, New Map, New Schedule: This route operates between Belleville Transit Center, Swansea Transit Center, St. Clair Square and Madison County Transit in Collinsville. MetroBus hopes it’ll provide better service to the area’s most popular destinations. #23 Belleville-College route will service between Belleville and College Transit Centers.

#23 Belleville-College, New Map, New Schedule: Originally proposed as the #23 SWIC, the new route provides service between Belleville and College Transit Centers. It’s covering areas previously served by the #16 St. Clair Square, including additional service along Sherman Street and Lebanon Road. #15 Belleville-Shiloh serves Old Collinsville Road at Lebanon. Thanks to customer input, all MetroBus services along West Blvd. remain in place, and will be served by the #23 Belleville-College.
