GENESEO, Mo. — The Illinois State Police's Blackhawk Area Task Force made two arrests following a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of 1,146 pounds of cocaine.

Police arrested 27-year-old Vanshpreet Singh and 36-year-old Manpreet Singh, both from Ontario, Canada, for three Class X felonies each: possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and cocaine trafficking.

At 2:10 p.m. on Nov. 29, an ISP trooper pulled over a tractor-trailer on I-80 in Henry County. During the trooper’s commercial motor vehicle inspection, they recognized numerous indicators of criminal activity and conducted a search. The search revealed $40 million of cocaine. ISP seized 1,146 pounds of the drug.  ​ ​

“ISP’s coordinated focus on trafficking is helping keep dangerous drugs out of our communities,” said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. “From commercial motor vehicle inspections to daily patrol to targeted anti-violence and trafficking details, ISP is making communities safer.”

Authorities took the two Canadians into custody and transported them to the Henry County Jail pending a pre-trail release hearing. ISP notified Homeland Security Investigations on the matter and they’re providing assistance.
