ST. LOUIS — Police have confirmed the woman found dead in north St. Louis is Michelle Hampton, the same woman police say was reportedly kidnapped by an armed suspect in Clayton Wednesday.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police say her vehicle was quickly recovered after the shooting. A vehicle of interest has been seized by detectives.
Police say Hampton was reportedly kidnapped by an armed suspect from Whitburn Drive in Clayton. According to a GoFundMe page created by Hampton's sister, Michelle's other sister met her at her home around 7:15 a.m. and saw Michelle get into the driver's seat of her Nissan Rogue with an armed man in the passenger seat. The sister also says a second vehicle was blocking the Rogue.
Police say the armed suspect then force the woman to drive from Clayton to St. Louis.
The GoFundMe page explains the sister called 911 and followed Michelle's vehicle. She says the second vehicle followed behind her and tried to force her car off the road and even shot at her. Police say that shooting happened at Euclid and Eright.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) responded to a shooting around 11 a.m. in the 4700 block of Greer and found Michelle Hampton's body.Anyone with info should call 314-444-5371 or if you want to remain anonymous contact @STLRCS at 866-371-TIPS.
