Bill Eigel, the state senator from Weldon Spring who will leave office at the end of the year due to term limits, hasn’t made a decision about his future political career, but among his options is a return to St. Charles County.
Eigel previously served in the Missouri House and ran for the GOP nomination for governor this year and lost to Mike Kehoe in the August primary. He filed paperwork with the Missouri Ethics Commission in October that lets him raise money for a possible bid for St. Charles County Executive in 2026. The incumbent, Steve Ehlmann, has already said he won’t seek another term.
Mike Elam, currently a member of the St. Charles County Council, is among those seeking the office in what could end up becoming a proxy fight between Eigel and Kehoe. Elam is a Kehoe ally and was an emcee at the now-Governor-Elect’s election night watch party in Jefferson City earlier this month.
