ST LOUIS – The Saint Louis Zoo has a new way to keep guests, staff, and animals safe using a new security screening technology called the "Evolv System."
The security system is designed to detect concealed weapons as guests enter at the two entrances of the zoo.
For the past month, the system has been in its pilot phase.
“This is just one of many safety enhancements we’ve invested in as safety of Zoo guests, staff and animals is our highest priority,” said Glenn Eidman, Director of Security for the Saint Louis Zoo. “The Zoo is and should always be a safe place for everyone.”
A couple years ago, the Zoo added an explosives and weapons detection dog named Speedy.
The Zoo’s security team, composed of highly-skilled people, secures the grounds every hour of every day. The security team must maintain certification requirements by both the State of Missouri and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
