The Department of Central Management Services has received notice from Ill. Gov. JB Pritzker flags are to fly at half-staff in honor of Illinois State Police Trooper Corey S. Thompsen.
Thompsen, 28, died in the line of duty on Oct. 18, 2024. He joined the Illinois State Police on Oct.17, 2019, in Cadet Class 130, serving for almost 5 years. Thompsen will be remembered for his unparalleled dedication to his city and community.
"Our world has been shattered, and we will never be the same. But we take comfort in knowing that he lived life to the fullest, he loved his family and friends deeply, and he died doing what he loved. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” -Matthew 5:9," his family said in a statement.
Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1 p.m. to 5 pm at St. Joseph-Ogden High School with a first responder walk through at 5 pm. The funeral will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign.
