ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — To help prepare for election day, the public is invited Thursday to pick which voting machines will be randomly tested for accuracy in St. Peters.

All 104 electronic voting machines already have been tested by election staff, according to Kurt Bahr, St. Charles County elections director, but the testing event will allow residents to see the accuracy for themselves.

“This is just one of many things we do to assure the public that their vote counts and it will be counted right,” Bahr said.

Two people will be chosen, one Republican and one Democrat, to decide which two voting machines will be tested, according to a press release.

The chosen machines will be wheeled up front for everyone to see. The results will be compared to the test ballots for accuracy.

Thursday’s event will be at the St. Charles County Election Authority, 397 Turner Boulevard in St. Peters, starting at 10 a.m.

Early voting also is underway in St. Charles County at the Election Authority, 397 Turner Boulevard in St. Peters and at Element Church, 100 Mall Parkway in Wentzville.

Bahr is projecting a 75% voter turnout, or approximately 225,000 voters to participate in the Nov. 5 election, according to the press release.
