ST. LOUIS—The Los Angeles Rams are trying to buy the team's former Earth City practice facility for $1, but the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Authority (RSA) is suing to prevent that from happening.

St. Louis County released a statement today announcing the suit to prevent the Rams and team owner Stan Kroenke from purchasing the facility.

The team’s original lease states it could purchase the practice facility in 2024 for $1.

County Executive Sam Page stated quote, “This is a fight worth having. We cannot allow a $25 million dollar facility to be turned over for $1 to a guy who has shown time and again he has no interest in the Saint Louis region.”

The RSA owns Dome where the Rams played before leaving for Los Angeles in 2016.

St. Louis interests sued the league and Rams owner Stan Kroenke after NFL owners approved the team’s move to Los Angeles in 2016. They sought more than $1 billion in damages.

A $790 million settlement was reached in November 2021. About $275 million went to attorney fees. That left $512 million, and interest brought the total to around $519 million.

The suit claimed the NFL violated its own relocation guidelines, and that the league and the Rams enriched themselves at the expense of the community they abandoned.

Spectrum News reached out to the Rams but have not heard back.
