KIRKWOOD, MO. – Hannah Campbell, the former Spencers Grill owner, is opening a new business in downtown Kirkwood next spring.

The new community-centered play-cafe, “Little Lofts,” will give parents the opportunity to build relationships with other families while spending time with their kids.

Campbell said on the cafe’s website, that after becoming a new mom with two toddlers, she struggled with leaving the house. She attempted coffee shops and children’s museums but was unable to find a local spot to relax while her kids had fun. 

She came up Little Lofts Play Cafe described as “a place where you can enjoy locally-sourced coffee and nourishing food while the kiddos enjoy a safe, fun and enriching space to play and explore their imaginations.”

Campbell says she can’t wait to meet those that come in during “this very special phase of life.”

Their menu will include La Cosecha Coffee, Comet Bakery croissants and seasonally-inspired specials.

Spencer’s Grill update

During June, Spencer’s Grill owner Alex Campbell announced the restaurants closure. A week later in August, Hannah Campbell posted a heartfelt thank you to her husband for his work ethic and calling the closure “the end of a very special era.”

Just over a week later, the restaurant’s Facebook page announced new owners of the popular Kirkwood spot. 

Michael Shadwick, Meredith Shadwick, and Michael Kleckner issued a statement on their approach, saying their priorities are "quality food, consistent food, excellent service, and preserving the charm of the historic, community diner. You will notice improvements while still enjoying that same comforting feeling when you walk in.” 

Spencers Grill is planned to open Nov. 1.
