ST. LOUIS—Neighborhoods across the region will come together tonight for the annual National Night Out.

The country-wide effort is a community-building campaign promoting awareness of crime and drug prevention while strengthening police-community partnerships.

There are several events in St. Louis City, including one in Benton Park. The post on social media is encouraging people to come out and meet their neighbors. There will be a potluck dinner, music, games and more.

Ferguson is also hosting events tonight. Chief Troy Doyle and the police department says it is looking forward to visiting several neighborhoods in their community.

In Edwardsville, officials are planning two days of fun. The community will gather for the National Night Out event on Oct. 1 at City Park. There will be food, bounce houses, live entertainment, giveaways and more. Then, on Oct. 5, the police department is offering a behind-the-scenes look at the Public Safety Building, complete with tours and demonstrations, police K-9s, a live burn demo and more.

Other communities like, Florissant, Dellwood and Des Peres are hosting events tonight.
