ST. LOUIS, Mo. - A 2.6 magnitude earthquake was reported in Lincoln County overnight.

According to U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake happened around 3:30 a.m with an epicenter near Old Monroe. 

It had a depth of 2.1 km and a magnitude of 2.6. USGS intensity map reported weak shaking as far south as Jefferson County.

The consensus on social media was that most did not feel it and those who did mentioned short and quick shaking.

The quake was in the region known as the Illinois Basin which borders the much more seismically active New Madrid zone.
