O'FALLON, MO - The cities of Saint Charles and O’Fallon entered in an intergovernmental partnership to create a law enforcement training center.

During the O’Fallon city council meeting, both mayors put pen to paper and shook hands over the new state-of-the-art training facility that was first planned in early 2021.

The Center for Advanced Skills Training in Law Enforcement will be on highway 79 in O’Fallon. It will have‌ a “state-of-the-art firing range, training courses, training structures, and additional facilities to better enable law enforcement officer to safely and effectively serve the public in their respective communities,” according to the agreement document.

The firing range will include a 200-yard rifle and pistol range.

A new stand-alone entity will be tasked with the design, construction, and operation of the facility. Currently, the plans call for an 80-acre training complex with a range of amenities.

In the last two years, Missouri Gov. Parson has vetoed $20 million in funding for a local enforcement training center.

The two cities will share the cost of the $24 million bill equally, paying for it through bonds to be issued in mid-2025. The resolution 02-24-2022K previously passed, allowing for reimbursement of expenditures between that date and the date of bond issuance.
