COTTLEVILLE, MO — Members of the National Champion St Louis SLAM and "Hustle and Heart" taught girls from third grade through high school the fundamentals of football on Sunday, Sept 15.

The SLAM are fresh off their fifth Women’s Football Alliance championship win.

Drills included stepping the ladder, defensive back footwork, a variety of foot races, and throwing the ball. Some groups “earned” push ups, too. SLAM hopes to build interest in football among young women with the camp.

Next week, SLAM will host their first tryout of the year for their defending championship team at Ladue High School. The Ladue tryout will be on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 9 a.m, and more tryouts will continue once a month until the end of the year.

Hustle and Heart, a O’Fallon based sports performance organization, also will hold tryouts but for a high school girls 7-on-7 football team. Their tryout is on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at 1071 Cool Springs Industrial Drive, O’Fallon, MO.
