ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – The Animal Protective Association of Missouri just rescued 137 cats from one hoarding case and they urgently need help.

What You Need To Know

  • APA took in 137 cats after a huge intake month of August

  • APA seeks adopters, pet foster families, volunteers and more

In August, they saw a seasonal spike in kitten intake. Now, nearly 500 felines are at the APA. More than 1,100 animals in total were taken in by APA during August.

The animals on legal hold cannot be released yet, intensifying the space crisis that the APA faces. The team is working tirelessly to assure the cats receive care and is actively looking to make more space available for those still coming in. The APA said they expect to receive at least 60 more.

Adopting, of course, is the best way to help the APA but not everyone can. The APA says you can also help by fostering which gives sheltered cats a break and provides space for more to be taken in.

They also need volunteers who can help care for the cats. Other rescue partners looking to help by transferring cats should email olivettetransfers@apamo.org

The APA seeks donational support to help with medical and daily care. They’re looking for XXL and XL crates, food and water bowl combos and cardboard flats.
