St. Louis County, Mo.—St. Louis County Executive Sam Page has launched an investigation into improper payments made to County Council employees, according to a press release from his office late Tuesday afternoon.

Page says Auditor Toni Jackson was given raises she was not entitled to receive. Overpayments were also reportedly given to two others employees who report to the County Council.

His office says a whistleblower brought the issue forward.

“The goal of the investigation is to determine what happened, how to prevent it from happening again,

and ensure that the county is made whole,” said Page.

The County Executive has asked the Director of Administration to provide any and all documents related to the overpayments to his office by the end of day Friday. The Director of Administration oversees payroll, the budget office and human resources.

The investigator will begin scheduling under-oath interviews after reviewing the documents.
