For those headed out to events in St. Charles, a new app was just made available to assist with parking. "Park STC" uses smart parking technology to show users exactly where available spots in downtown St. Charles are.

What You Need To Know

  • Park STC uses smart parking technology to show open spots in downtown St. Charles
  • Green spots are open, red spots are occupied

  • "Continue as guest" and the app wont collect personal information

  • It is free to use

The app accounts for 30 blocks of downtown St. Charles, including 1,500 parking spaces in real-time.

Users do not need to make an account, and may “continue as guest” when prompted on the home screen. Matt Seggerman, project manager for roads and traffic, said the app does not collect personal information if the user chooses the "guest" option.

Funding from the East-West Gateway Council provided 80% of the funding. The smart parking project cost $800,000.

Going forward, the app is planned to expand to additional areas of St. Charles and other municipalities where parking issues may exist.
