A remaking of the website (www.SLMPD.org) was announced for St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) Wednesday as they launched a more modern look. The last time SLMPD updated their website was between 2009 and 2010.
“We are excited to launch our new website, and to make it easier than ever for the public to learn about SLMPD and our work,” said Commissioner Robert J. Tracy. “This not only increases our transparency, but also holds us accountable to the community we serve.”
The website has been reconfigured to support mobile device viewing. It’s also been designed to be easier to find information that was either unavailable or difficult to locate before.
The Data and Reports section collects detailed reports and statistics. Included in this information, such as calls for service view, was previously linked on other pages or not at all. Weekly CompStat reports can be found on the expanded Crime Statistics webpage. CompStat reports help review trends and patterns which help SLMPD decide where to allocate their resources.
Crime alerts, investigations, and public releases now go to the News tab. North Patrol, Central Patrol, and South Patrol pages will also have crime and investigation updates.
As part of improving the department’s transparency, a new webpage was created sharing SLMPD’s policies and procedures.
Additionally, the SLMPD website received refreshed content throughout the site including annual report of projects supported by the St. Louis Police Foundation, and enhanced language translation tools.
The website was developed by Inverse Paradox, financed by the St. Louis Police Foundation. SLMPD says interactive crime mapping and other technological tools will be coming soon.
