ST. LOUIS — From watching the XFL Battlehawks championship to experiencing the new Gateway to Pride exhibit, there are several events happening in the St. Louis area this weekend, June 8-9.

Strawberry Festival

A Strawberry Festival is set for Saturday at the Riverwalk Market in St. Charles. 

The festival will include a strawberry jam and jelly contest where a panel of judges will award the winner. 

The festival is part of the St. Charles Riverwalk Market, which takes place every Saturday through Nov. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

New Pride exhibit

A new exhibit called “Gateway to Pride” opens Saturday at the Missouri History Museum. 

This is the first, full-scale exhibit dedicated to Saint Louis’ LGBTQIA plus community. The exhibit features history, artifacts, captivating images and insightful stories.

There is a full weekend of activities to celebrate, including live music, local artwork, storytelling sessions and more.

Spirit of St. Louis Air Show

Get ready to see the Navy Blue Angels and a variety of other aircraft perform this weekend in the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show

The two-day event at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield also includes a STEM Expo, featuring several organizations such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis Radio Control Flying Association and more.

D-Day celebration

The National Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood will have a commemorative celebration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Saturday at 11 a.m. 

The event will feature the Museum’s C-47A Transport airplane that was used by the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II’s invasion of Normandy. 

The aircraft flew overnight to drop troops and supplies as part of the D-Day operation with the 82nd Airborne. 

Hot Summer Nights

The summer’s first Hot Summer Nights event in St. Charles is on Saturday. 

Food trucks and music will start at 6 p.m. with jazz music featuring Anita Jackson beginning at 7 p.m. 

The event will be held on Second Street in French Town. 

Butterfly House

Families can celebrate Father’s Day early at the Butterfly House Sunday for the Dads, Dogs and Donuts event from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.

The event includes activities such as meeting Clifford the Big Red Dog, story time and more. Guests also can take photos with Clifford and Montgomery Bank’s “Monty.” 

Children 12 years and younger are free. Reservations are required.

Opera Theatre

Watch the love story of Caesar and Cleopatra at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis as the first performance is Sunday. 

The fresh and modern take on “Julius Caesar” stars two women in the lead roles. Emily Pogorelc as Cleopatra, and Sarah Mesko as Julius Caesar. 

Performances run through June 28th. 

Battlehawks championship 

The St. Louis Battlehawks host the San Antonio Brahmas on Sunday at 6 p.m. for the XFL Conference Championship at The Dome At America's Center.

Tickets are available online. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. The first 15,000 fans will receive a free rally sign courtesy of Explore St. Louis. 

Fans are invited to welcome the players as they walk into the Dome at 3 p.m. from Baer Plaza. The game also will be broadcast on FOX-TV and 97.1 FM radio.
