ST. LOUIS — There’s just a couple of weeks left to register for the St. Louis Senior Olympics hosted by the St. Louis Jewish Community Center (the J).
There are more than 90 individual and team events for athletes 50 and older to take part in, according to a press release.
Returning events include the three on three basketball tournament, as well as other popular sports such as pickleball, tennis, swimming, track and more. New categories include weightlifting and a longest drive competition in golf.
The longest drive competition will be held at the J’s Staenberg Family Complex in the new indoor golf simulator.
“We have serious competition, friendly games and performances. In the end, we have recognition, camaraderie and enduring friendships, all built around the spirit of this great event,” said Stephanie Rhea, the St. Louis Senior Olympics coordinator.
“The games are a chance for the entire community to come together to celebrate the accomplishments of our athletes.”
There also are volunteer opportunities for all ages.
Many individual events can qualify for the 2025 National Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa, according to the press release.
The Senior Olympics will mark its 44th year over Memorial Day Weekend. The deadline to register is May 8th.
To register and for more information, visit St. Louis Senior Olympics online or call 314-442-3164.
Registration forms also are available at the J in Creve Coeur and Chesterfield.
