ST. LOUIS — From attending sports games to celebrating 420, there are many events happening this weekend in St. Louis.
The Illinois Department of Transportation will close eastbound traffic on I-55 and I-64 across the Poplar Street Bridge and the MLK Bridge for resurfacing projects Friday night at 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday.Drivers are encouraged to use the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge and the McKinley Bridge as alternatives.
Sporting events
The Cardinals and the Battlehawks both have Saturday games on the schedule. The Battlehawks will host the Memphis Showboats at 11:30 a.m. at The Dome At America’s Center.
The Battlehawks will arrive at Baer Plaza for their “Battlewalk” around 8:45 a.m. The Cardinals host the Milwaukee Brewers at 1:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Busch Stadium.
Dog lovers can bring their furry friends to the Gateway Arch National Park for the Arch Bark event slated for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and family-friendly.Visitors can participate in a yoga session, a one-mile walk, and the event also will have a dog-friendly bubble bus, caricature drawings, lawn games and Speak Rescue will have pets available for adoption, among other activities.
Fee-free day
The Gateway Arch National Park will waive its $3 NPS entrance fee for adult Tram Ride and documentary movie tickets on Saturday.
The second annual Loop 420 Street Fest is set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.The event will celebrate the counterculture of the 420 holiday with music, art, entertainment, industry education, vendors and more.
The annual Earth Day Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Muny grounds in Forest Park.Visitors can learn about sustainable products and services offered by local businesses, meet area nonprofits and enjoy local entertainment and Green Dining Alliance restaurants.
Swade Cannabis has partnered with chefs at four local restaurants for an infused dinner series called “Best Buds.” The first event will be held at Up Late STL on Saturday at their Delmar and Vandeventer locations.Customers who order breakfast sandwiches online can choose to add on a cannabis infused jelly for free.
The infused dining series uses a revolutionary food and beverage cannabis product from Missouri-based cannabis manufacturer Teal Labs.
Participating restaurants in the series are Pie Guy Pizza, El Molino del Sureste and iNDO.
It is opening weekend at Purina Farms. Visitors can check out the newly renovated visitor center lobby and participate in cow milking and see the Incredible Dog Show.Cats and dogs also will be available for adoption. Daily admission is free, not including special events.
