ST. LOUIS—Baseball is back in St. Louis, but Saturday 100,000 people are expected downtown as the Cardinals, the Battlehawks and CITY SC all play.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) says extra officers will be on patrol.
another home game Saturday, but they aren’t the only ones. The Battlehawks and St. Louis CITY SC will bring thousands of more fans to the downtown area.
Each venue will have its own off-duty officers during the games. The Downtown Area Anti-Violence Crime Initiative and Cruising Enforcement Detail will also be active Saturday and have extra officers. The department says it may even close some streets for pedestrian traffic if needed.
“We’ve been in contact with owners and operators of parking lots in the area and we’ve stressed the importance of lot security and keeping staff on site the entire time the events are being held,” said Lt. Tom Zipf, SLMPD.
There have also been discussion about installing barriers or gates to prevent vehicles that haven’t paid from entering and putting up fences.
People attending the events are encouraged to leave valuables at home and please use car alarms and clubs if they have one.
