ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Those who have not had the opportunity to attend a St. Louis Symphony Orchestra concert will now be able to go for free if they have a library card.
The St. Louis County Library (SLCL) and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) recently partnered to provide free concert vouchers for library patrons.
“By providing free concert tickets to new audiences, the partnership seeks to introduce classical music to a broader audience, breaking down barriers and making the rich cultural experience of symphonic music accessible to all,” an online press release states.
Vouchers are available at all SLCL branches while supplies last. Each voucher includes two tickets to a classical concert or up to four tickets to a family concert for those attending for the first time.
There is a limit of one voucher per patron, according to the press release.
“This collaboration with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra aligns perfectly with our mission to support the community by providing access to a wide range of cultural experiences,” said Kristen Sorth, St. Louis County Library director and CEO.
“This partnership will connect patrons to an incredible St. Louis institution, fostering a love for music that will resonate for years to come."
The SLSO is performing throughout the St. Louis region while renovations are being made to Powell Hall. Most concerts are occurring at Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, and Stifel Theatre.
“We are grateful to the St. Louis County Library team for its partnership in providing access to the remarkably talented musicians of the SLSO,” said Marie-Hélène Bernard, SLSO president and CEO.
“We believe music is a shared human experience and look forward to welcoming new audiences to orchestra performances through this collaborative initiative.
