CARBONDALE, Ill. — As Southern Illinois is on the centerline for the upcoming total solar eclipse, Southern Illinois University (SIU) Carbondale is offering limited on-campus lodging to the public and is hosting events leading up to the big event.

SIU officials have opened University Hall for a five-day, four-night stay from April 5-9, according to the website. The package costs $750 plus tax that includes commemorative SIU eclipse glasses for up to three people per reservation.

Parking passes are an additional $25 per vehicle and lodgers can eat at the nearby Trueblood Dining Hall for $12.50 per meal.

SIU will feature a variety of events on campus over the four-day span and on the day of the eclipse.

Lodging in neighboring towns also are offering eclipse pricing where some range from $375 per night to $2,500 per night.

The eclipse also can be seen from 20 parks across Missouri where camping and lodging reservations can be made, according to the Missouri State Parks website.

Eclipse seekers will be able to see a portion of the sun covered by the moon ranging from 84.9% to 99% in dozens of other Missouri State Parks, such as Castlewood and the Katy Trail State Park, Route 66 State Park, Meramec State Park, Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park and more.
